Fetal Anomaly Scan - Dubai Gynaecology Clinic

Dear Madam, you may be worried about the development of your baby during pregnancy and you want to check that your baby is free of any congenital conditions. Our ultrasound expert team runs a detailed and structured anomaly scan on the same day and will issue you a detailed report with images documenting the progress and health of your future baby. The anomaly scan is becoming a mandatory scan due to its ability to pick up disorders allowing its early management and safe delivery process. DRHC has the most modern equipment to do anomaly scans in Dubai.

An anomaly scan(20-week scan) or mid-pregnancy scan is usually carried out between 18-21 weeks of pregnancy to check if your baby is developing normally and look at where the placenta is lying.

This anomaly scan results examine the anatomy of your baby to exclude structural abnormalities as it checks:

 Fetal Anomaly Scan

  • The baby's measurements to ensure normal growth of the baby.
  • The shape and structure of your baby’s head, face, spine, and abdominal wall.
  • The baby’s heart and make sure that the four chambers are working normally.
  • The baby’s stomach, kidneys, and bladder, as well as the arms, legs, and feet.
  • The position of the placenta, and the umbilical cord (count the three vessels), and check if there is enough amniotic fluid for the baby to move freely.

Some of the abnormalities could be seen in the 20-week baby scan:
