High Risk Factors for Cervical Neoplasia Dubai Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic

 

A risk factor is a known factor to increase the chance of developing a disease such as cancer. These risk factors are different amongst diseases. Most importantly, having a risk factor does not mean you will certainly develop the disease, but knowing the risk factor would help to prevent or reducing the chance of developing it. 

Many risk factors may increase the chance of developing cervical cancer. ladies without any risk factors are very unlikely to develop cervical cancer. 

Knowing the risk factors, allows to focus on those avoidable risks, but it is still important to know about the unavoidable risk factors as it is necessary to have regular PAP smear test to detect any cancer changes as early as possible.

  • First intercourse at an early age (younger than 18 years)(probably unavoidable)
  • Male sexual partner who has had a sexual partner with cervical cancer. (avoidable)

  • Sexually transmitted disease infection. (Treatable)
  • Diethylstilbestrol exposure exposure. (avoidable)
  • Infrequent or absent pap screening tests.(avoidable)

 How to Prevent Cervical Cancer?

  • Sexual straight practice with single partner.
  • The use of barrier protection.
  • Regular gynaecologic examination and cytologic screening with treatment of precancerous lesions.
  • Vaccination with HPV Vaccine.
