Endometrial polyps are benign overgrowth of endometrial glands and stroma. Polyp varies in sizes and may be pedunculated. They are generally within the endometrial cavity but can prolapse through the cervical canal.

Most endometrial polyps represent focal, accentuated, and benign hyperplastic process. Polyps occur most frequently in perimenopausal women.

 Symptoms:

• The most common symptom is abnormal bleeding.
• Large polyps may protrude through the cervical canal.
• Low, dull, midline pain.
• Bleeding between periods (Metrorrhagia).
• Heavy menses (Menorrhagia).
• Heavy irregular bleeding (Menometrorrhagia).
• Postcoital bleeding.
• Postmenopausal bleeding.

 Evaluation:

• Physical examination.
• Vaginal Ultrasound.
• Hysterpscopy
• Sonohysterogram

Treatment: Surgical removal which includes removal of polyp and histopathology test.

 Notice: Polyps in menopausal women or women taking Tamoxifen are more likely to be associated with endometrial carcinoma.
