Retina Treatment - Dubai Eye Clinic

What is the retina?

The retina is found at the back of the eye. It is a thin layer of tissue that contains light sensitive cells that capture light and convert it into electrical signals that are then transmitted to the brain via the optic nerve. This process allows us to see the world around us.

Any damage to the retina may interrupt this process of visualisation, leading to potential vision loss or blindness. Hence, due to its important role in vision, it is vital that it is checked regularly and kept healthy.

Common Retinal Issues:

At DRHC our Ophthalmology specialists are highly experienced in diagnosing and treating a wide range of retinal Problems. Common retinal conditions include:

  • Retinal detachment: The retina separates from the back of the eye and fluid (vitreous) enters behind the retina usually through a retinal tear.
  • Diabetic eye disease: Diabetic high blood sugar can damage blood vessels in the retina, risking vision loss
  • Age-Related macular degeneration: The center of the retina deteriorates causing blurred central vision
  • Floaters: specs or cobweb shapes floating in your vision due to fibers casting a shadow over the retina
