Achalasia, Lap cardiomyotomy
Treatment in Dubai

Achalasia is a rare disorder affecting the esophagus, the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach. This condition arises when the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), a ring of muscle at the bottom of the esophagus, fails to relax properly, leading to difficulty in swallowing, regurgitation, and chest pain.

Laparoscopic cardiomyotomy, also known as laparoscopic Heller myotomy, is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat achalasia. During this procedure, small incisions are made in the abdomen, and a laparoscope (a thin, flexible tube with a camera and light) is inserted to allow the surgeon to see inside the abdomen. The surgeon then cuts the muscles of the LES to allow food and liquids to pass more easily into the stomach.

Laparoscopic cardiomyotomy is a safe and effective treatment for achalasia, with a high success rate and low risk of complications. It is performed under general anesthesia and usually requires a short hospital stay. Most patients experience significant improvement in their symptoms after the procedure and can resume normal activities within a few days. This procedure is particularly beneficial for patients who may not be candidates for other treatments or who have not responded well to other therapies.
