The most common retinal diseases which are treated with laser are retinal tears, retinal vein occlusion, and diabetic retinopathies. Laser procedure is used to stop the leakage of blood vessels. It is usually painless and performed in our outpatient clinic while you are awake and comfortable.
Immediately after having your laser session, you may get a slight headache, blurry vision or some painful burning sensation in your eyes which normally resolves within 24 hours. You can directly go back to your normal life with no restrictions. Laser treatment can often preserve vision or prevent vision loss, but it is not done to improve vision in the majority of cases.
At DRHC we are a team of extensively trained ophthalmology surgeons who prioritize patient care and outcomes. Our commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements ensures that you receive the most advanced and effective eye treatments available. For cases of non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR), where there is leakage from blood vessels without neovascularization. Applied for specific leaking spots in the retina which are detected using angiography, in an attempt to stop leakage.
Used in some cases of (NPDR), blood vessels appear to be leaking everywhere in the macula rather than in specific areas. In such cases, a scatter of laser in a grid pattern is placed across the entire swollen macular area resulting in drying the macula.
Known also as a scattered laser. Used for cases of proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) and retinal vein occlusion.
Is used to treat retinal tears to prevent progression to a retinal detachment.
The results of ocular laser treatment can be long-lasting, but it's important to note that certain factors, such as age and underlying eye conditions, can influence the longevity of the results.
