Tympanomastoidectomy is a procedure done for reconstruction of the middle ear components same time with the cleaning of the bone back to the ear (mastoid), ear drum perforation, and the ossicular chain (tiny ear bones) with or without using the artificial replacements. This operation is microscopic procedure and should be done in the fully equipped OT, and it takes three hours operating time. Patient might discharge same day or next day of the operation, and a small incision is needed on the back or front of the ear. Follow up for 2 weeks is mandatory.
