Osteoarthritis treatment by stem cells technique:


Osteoarthritis means destruction of cartilage which cover the bone ends and which provides easy glide of joint ends. Once the cartilage is damaged friction will become significant causing pain and progressive deterioration in the cartilage leading to severe arthritis when bone would be rubbing against bone.

Stem cells are able to repair and rejuvenate body tissues in the body by producing specific mediators and by the ability of transformation into different type of cells to re build a new tissues.

The theory behind stem cells treatment for arthritis is to provide high concentration of stem (mesenchymal) cells (not less than 10,000,000 cells) into the joint in which it will transform into cartilage producing cells covering the bone and also to reduce the inflammatory process and reduce pain and joint swelling.

We use amplified autologous adult stem cells harvested from fat tissue, where the stem cells come from the same person receiving treatment which will make more effective and with less chance of incompatibility.

 The result of treatment can vary according to each patient and condition but generally  good results are expected within 1-3 months. Optimal results are expected up to 9 months and sometimes further treatments are advised.

The local side effects from injecting the joints is negligible  (minor swelling, bruises and infection) which are seldom expected and settle very soon with no other significant complication.
