Laser Hair Reduction

In the past, methods for hair removal included plucking, shaving, waxing, electrolysis and chemical depilatories. Some are painful, some are messy, but all of them are time consuming and are associated with high cost.

Lumenis LightSheer for permanent hair reduction by LASER at Dr. Rami Hamed Center offers unparalleled treatment speed and efficacy with optimal patient comfort. LightSheer is more than 75% faster than the average hair reduction session, and also features the unique HIT™ and ChillTip™ technologies for pain relief, additionally, it is a smart economical choice, saving you money spent on temporary hair removal solutions.

When the hair is actively growing each individual hair goes through three main cycles:

Anagen, the growing stage, when the root of the hair is the largest, has an abundance of melanin. It is only during this stage that the hair is able to be targeted by lasers, Anagen can last several weeks normally, and at any time, about 15 – 20% of a person’s hair is in this stage.

Catagen, the hair at this point has completed its growth stage and retreats from the root and will fall out on its own. This stage can last anywhere from a week to just two days.

Telogen, “resting” stage where the hair is not growing or shedding, and does not have a set time duration, it can last as short as a week up to a year or more before it comes back to Anagen.

When will I see results?

Multiple treatments are required to achieve permanent hair reduction. This is due to the increased effect of the laser on hair in the early growth stage (Anagen). Not all the hairs are in the same phase at a given time.

How does it work?

The LightSheer uses a state-of-the-art 805nm diode laser, which ensures safety for all skin types. Repeated laser pulses target existing hair, creating a direction of energy into the hair follicles that prevent future growth. The advanced software in this LASER device allows your physician to truly customize treatment for your hair type, skin type and lifestyle by utilizing two different handpieces and technologies:

HIT™ technology The High-Speed Integrated Technology:

(HIT™) incorporates suction to elevate and stretch the skin. In doing so, the laser achieves maximum absorption into hair follicles and fast coverage of large areas, which minimize the sensation of heat.

ChillTip™ technology The ChillTip™ technology: uses a proprietary cooling system to momentarily numb the skin to minimize pain, while compressing the handpiece to the skin to rotate the follicle and enable better results

What can I expect after treatment?

The appearance of the treated area following treatment varies from patient to patient, depending on the characteristics of the patient and treatment given.

During the treatment, some hairs will shed from the follicle immediately, while the remaining will shed in the following weeks. Transient redness and swelling around the hair follicle may appear immediately after the treatment, but are in fact, positive results indicating the follicle’s response to the treatment.

Following the treatment, you will be provided with guidelines, namely in terms of sun exposure.

The average customer is satisfied with their hair removal after 6 – 8 treatments. It is important to remember that each individual’s age, ethnicity, weight, metabolism, medication and hormones have a direct result on hair growth and can affect their laser hair removal process.
